Hi. I'm Ginny. I love food. I mean really love it. I love to shop for it, prep it, cook it, taste it, savor it...anyway. I also love to read, especially about food. Over the years I've read some amazing books and blogs that document what the American diet is doing to us as a country. As a result, I've made changes in my own home to rid it of food containing the hormones, pesticides and chemicals that are deteriorating our health, one meal at a time. The benefits have been tremendous, from restoring my fertility to a 75 pound weight loss to giving me the strength and stamina to become a marathon runner. However, the more I learn, the more I realize the extent of which change is necessary. It's difficult to rid your diet of all processed foods, especially when you have small children that are carboholics and love to snack. With research pointing to connections between processed food and childhood obesity and behavioral issues, it becomes necessity. I'm determined to weed through the information out there to make sure I'm making the right choices for these two little stinkers right here.
My friend Michelle and I have discussed this at length and share a passion for change. We decided to create the Facebook based group Return to Real Food as a place that all of our wonderfully brilliant friends can gather to post ideas, questions and helpful information. This blog has been created as a place to post our adventures along the way. Please feel free to contribute as a writer to the blog anytime you like. Just draft up a blog post, email it to me (gingersalas@gmail.com) and I will publish it and link it back to the FB page as an article for the group to read. This way there will be an archive that documents the journey.
Let's do this!
Ginny
